Why ride up the left hand side of a queue of cars and risk winding someone like this up? Stay in the queue, position yourself so that no one can pass (assume the primary position) and no one will have any cause for irritation. If we want to convince the ignorant that we have just as much right to the road as them then we should be willing to use our bikes like cars whenever possible.0

Filtering up the nearside, may be considered inconsiderate driving but no specific offence.
(Your only meant to pass vehicles on the inside if it's lane based traffic flow or you are passing a vehicle turning right)

If you're in a car or on a motorbike maybe. The only thing I'd say is that it's not very safe.
The majority of the Highway code applies to all vehicles. and Rule 163 is in one of the sections that covers all vehicles. (I say vehicles but Horse and Rider can't really be described as a vehicle)

Rule 163
Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so. You should
* not get too close to the vehicle you intend to overtake
* use your mirrors, signal when it is safe to do so, take a quick sideways glance if necessary into the blind spot area and then start to move out
* not assume that you can simply follow a vehicle ahead which is overtaking; there may only be enough room for one vehicle
* move quickly past the vehicle you are overtaking, once you have started to overtake. Allow plenty of room. Move back to the left as soon as you can but do not cut in
* take extra care at night and in poor visibility when it is harder to judge speed and distance
* give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles or other obstructions on your side of the road
* only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is room to do so
* stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left
* give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car (see Rules 211-215)

In slow-moving traffic. You should
* reduce the distance between you and the vehicle ahead to maintain traffic flow
* never get so close to the vehicle in front that you cannot stop safely
* leave enough space to be able to manoeuvre if the vehicle in front breaks down or an emergency vehicle needs to get past
* not change lanes to the left to overtake
* allow access into and from side roads, as blocking these will add to congestion
* be aware of cyclists and motorcyclists who may be passing on either side0 -
had some fun a few weeks ago when i a industrial skip lorry came to close so i shouted at the driver.
The lights ahead were red so i caught up with him and the guy jumped out of the cab asnd made a grab for me , numpties

That says to watch out for them, not that you can do it.
It's like saying watch out for Jay-Walkers in Belfast (I believe Jay-Walking is illegal in NI but not the rest of the UK, If I am wrong replace Belfast with some city where it is banned.)Do Nellyphants count?

I had a guy aim his car at me last week for the terrible sin of riding in the right hand lane round a roundabout. He missed my front wheel by about a foot and then roared off in to the traffic, no doubt feeling pleased with himself.
Imagine his shock when I caught up with him in the road works half a mile later. The shock was considerably enhanced by the way I banged on his window when he was least expecting it. I accused him (loudly enough for all arounnd to hear) of attempted murder, he proposed that this was entirely justified as I wasn't in a cycle lane (notwithstanding the fact that there wasn't a cycle lane). Given the language he was using I decided I'd made my point (and his 12 year old daughter had presumably heard it all before) so I rode off to a chorus of abuse. Presumably he went home to beat the wife (and eat a few more pies). I was a bit more constructive and used the aggravation to set my best commute time of the year (the fact that it was my first ride out in shorts might have helped). Every cloud....
Still at least he didn't shoot at me, now that's another story...0 -

Your story reminds me of one a mates Dad mentioned a few weeks ago.
Long time ago he and a mate were out in town on their motorbikes, Taxi swerves towards him twice. In the process hitting the bike and smashing the taxi up a bit. Cue a not unreasonable reaction to someone clearly attempting to kill him, followed by both of them charging into the nearest police station requesting to report an attempted murder.Do Nellyphants count?

I just have to say
some drivers are complete a*sheads.
But I will admit today 12 miles into work, not a single problem with cars. I even had a WVM let me onto a roundabout, I was so shocked I nearly didn't take advantage of the motion by him (yes he couldn't get off the roundabout so was as such queueing around it, but he left me space to go by and motioned me to go through also)."This area left purposefully blank"
