Getting your arse slapped!

I was riding back from work today up a hill, off the seat, when suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my bottom and then my right handlebar hit a crappy blue fiesta or something similar. I almost came off as it sent me towards the curb, i use clip-ins and just got my left foot out and down as I slammed on the brakes. Looked ahead and saw some idiot teenager in the back seat laughing as he leaned out the window, he had slapped me on the arse, nearly seriously hurt me though. If I could have could have caught the car up I think I would have tried to kill them all.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's not far off assault is it?

If he hit then it's assault - even more so if he caused you to come off - next time get the number and report it to the police

Absolutely, report them to the police. Problem is without a reg no they don't have much to go on. Glad to hear your OK. This type of thing does happen and it seems to be a way for chavs to have fun in their Novas and Fiestas.

I would give the your local cop shop a description o fthe car and teen's even if you dont have the reg. With some luck (especially if you are in a smaller town) the local cops would have spotted the chavs and have an idea who they are, or at least they can keep a lookout.
As far as im concerned the little $h1tt should be burned at the stake for reckless driving. My matches are at the ready!

  • Report it to the Police, I would imagine little $#!+s like that have a "reputation", shouldn't be too hard for Plod to track them down, I am of course assuming that said Plod can be coaxed out of the doughnut shop.

I have not been hit directly. Last year I was minding my own business on an A road. I felt the presence of something coming along side very slowly and thought it was a vehicle just about to turn off. But when I looked around there was no where it could be turning to. Next thing mr goon in the passenger seat of this little van decided to squirt water at me, so I slowed a little, OK so it was a bit of a laugh for them, I told them to grow up, with that they threw the bottle at me, they missed fortunately.

Had someone attempt this with me using a CD case - they missed. I had a coke can thrown at me last week! I cycle down the A6 and and get something like this every month or two. Always young lads in small cars.

Brilliant! I am envious! I would have caught up with the car and threatened to kiss him!

Being serious - that is pretty bad! Someone chucked coffee out of the window of an MPV on the M5 as I overtook - coffee covered my windscreen at XXmph! Shat myself! Luckily, One of my friends is a traffic cop in that area, quick phone call and said MPV was stopped - best thing about it was that it was this guys mothers vehicle that he had borrowed and was not insured on it + they found an amount of cannabis in the back!!! Said yoofs were up in court a week later......!
So, in essence, you are not wasting Police time as they would probably love to have a reason to stop them and do a few searches/check the vehicle over.

thats an assault and the offender can be arrested..simple.... obviously the driver didnt do it but he can still be served with a notice reference anti social driving...2 notices and his car can get seized and cost him a fortune to get it back.

report it to the police...they will take the complaint seriously and will want to nail the scumbag
  • Thanks for all the replies, yes I really wish I had got the reg number of the car, without it I fear it would be a lost cause reporting it. I'll keep an eye out for the idiots though, I might get lucky.

Even if you haven't got the reg number you should still report it, if they have done it to you they may have done it before or may try it again.

The police might have had other reports, lets face it, you could have been dragged under the wheels.

    ATC 3K video camera.

Doesn't solve the problem, but enables a record of these events.

The only time I have ever had my arse slapped while on my bike was by a cycling buddy who was getting his own pack on me after I goosed him earlier in the day.

alas it hasn't happened since...:lol:

Yes, but as a woman, everyone (except by repute/sterotype, the Italians) have stopped reaching for your arse. They know that there is a chance of your crying 'sexual harassment'.

Which brings me back to the original poster. Take it to the police by all means, but not as assault: argue that the guy is a closet bum clutcher.

That should put a stop to it.

I've had a couple of "yoofs" try and gob on me, no missles yet.

Recently a "set" of 4 in a car (what is the word for a group of these #ickheds anyhow?) open the passenger door purposely at the last moment as I carefully negoiated the standing traffic. They thought it was hilarious. I'd seen them planning something by the way their neanderthal heads kept looking round as I approached.

Doubt the driver would have been pleased if I'd carried on and pushed his door around and damaged his w ank-mobile!

    Phone plod and report it.

p.s If they do nothing and you see the car again wipe cat $hit on the door handles, or stick a full A4 sheet of sticky paper on the windscreen, takes hours to clean off, Derby college did this if you parked in the wrong place!!! (The paper, not the cat sush!)

Have been gobbed at a few times and had a beer bottle break on my seatpost once* but this is over many decades in highly variant chavy locations.

*The beer bottle throw, 15 years ago, was after being told to "get off the fcu*ng road" for.... being in the primary position .... and after I then replied with a finger gesture. Once I saw the beer bottle coming I insta-u-turned and scooted onto a busier road too quickly to get a reg. so the police ignored my report despite me being covered in beer.

Moral of story is absolutely try not to return agression with aggression, even if yours is comparatively mild, and practice taking random reg. plate details so you can do it automatically. :x
