What light?

OK so now the clocks have changed and the weather is getting better in the evenings again I have taken the bike off the turbo trainer and I'm getting out for rides again. Problem I have at the moment is the light I have is rather poo. It was just cheap and cheerful I bought last year but they don't light the road up enough (bright enough just not wide enough) so need a new one but I don't want to spend more money on a new one only to find they have the same problem. Any recommendations would be much appreciated I only have a small budget of about £30 to spend most of the ride I do at the moment in the evening is on the road but do do a tiny bit of xc so want something bright with a good wide beam.
