Saw a bike today in halfords - went looking in there for some eye candy, think it was priced about 449 or something but nice looking bike, think it was the fury.

But it had a small bit of the sticker that had been ripped of and two bits on the fork had clearly and badly been touched up, Do halfords sell the display models? I didn't have the money today and thought if i asked they might take it down and sort it out, but if I go in there with the cash is it likely they will knock some money off for it?

They can only say no. Just go for it, start low and see what happens.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

They usually build you a fresh bike from stock. The display is the last one to go.

My boardman was a display model and you would be lucky to get a penny off them for it being ex-display. Mine was through the cycle to work scheme (they dont do deals on them - price you see is price you pay) and i got the last boardman in stock anywhere and it was the display bike. I did think i could perhaps get something after i spent £65 at the same time and they wouldnt so much as give me a free pump ! I know they dont have to discount things or strike any kind of but they just got a guareteed £845 from my employer plus £65 of my own money.............

The display models quite often get robbed for parts as well, so they can turn around customer repairs faster (or at least, they do in my local) so they quite often end up with used or mismatched parts on them too. I'd avoid it personally, it's not like the bikes aren't great value at full price after all. Btu maybe you can get a worthwile bargain...

We got £10 off the other halves bike from Halfords because it had a tiny scratch on it that we didnt even notice till the bloke selling it pointed it out to us. I know its only £10 but its the little things that make you happy.

Thank you and thanks everyone else for all the answers - I assume you work in halfords clarkson? Is it true you can get pretty much any bike in that you want just probably have to pay rrp?
