Hi, i'm looking at buying a flight deck computer to go with my 10 speed dura ace and i am totally confused with what i need to get. there's that many different types of kits to go with them.I dont care about heart monitors and that sort of stuff, all i'm looking for is a simple computer(cadence would be nice though) can anybody point me in the right direction, thanks very much.

With Flightdeck you get (virtual) cadence anyway without the second sensor because it knows what gear you're in and how fast you're going and does the back-calculation.

You need to buy the computer and the sensor / mounting kit separately, although sometimes you see them sold as a bundle. There are wired and wireless versions. can't help with model numbers etc.
  • Hi,

I've just bought the same for my new bike I'm picking up at the weekend. (just need to persuade the shop to fit it for me as I don't want to mess up re taping the bars on a brand new bike!)

Anyway, if you're on 10 speed Dura-Ace (7800) you will need the head unit SC-6502. Cheapest place I found was http://www.boneshakersbikes.co.uk/acatalog/Shimano.html at £23.49

You will also need the mounting kit SM-SC70, I got mine last week from Totalcycling.com for £47 but it seems to have gone up to £75 now.

As I said, worth bearing in mind that youll need to run the cables to the STi levers under the tape so will need a retape.

Other than that, no idea how it actually works, still waiting to pick the bike up it's going on.

    3 days and counting...! :D

    Cheers

You most likely need the SM-SC70 sensor kit and the SC-6502 display unit. I use those with my ultegra-SL shifters but they do say they are dura ace 10 speed compatible as well.

I've got one(wireless). Nice, does what it's supposed to do and keeps track of more info than I care to use. Difficult to set up though. Not on the bike, but setting up the computer head to work right can be a bit of a challenge. Lots of "stuff" to enter i.e. rear cog sizes,
tire circumference, chain ring sizes, and a few other odds and ends things. Took me a while. Then again I'm not the brightest bulb in the closet. Bought mine 5 years ago and
after the initial setup haven't had any problems other than it needing new batteries. I like it.
Hopefully the booklet that comes with it has been updated since I bought mine and made a bit easier to follow on the setup.
    Good luck.
