can it be carried on here?
I missed the last few posts. Gutted!0 -
Actually, I think that may have been my fault
I suggested that someone may want to contact the shop owner and give him right of reply. But without thinking I (rather admittedly stupidly) posted the tel # I got off t'interwebs.

Remind me, just what was that number?Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Where had we got to with it ? Last I heard someone had read it properly and realised the alleged incident happened last year ?0
-
Given a chance, I would have been only too happy to remove the phone # in question as I do believe I made a valid point. Can't remember what that was now, but I know it was good0 -
Nah. It was destined to be pulled the moment he said no charges were brought or were dropped and the shop was legally in the clear. He acknowledged that he was risking it doing what he was doing. And he was. And Bikradar thought so.
No surprise the post was pulled on legal grounds.0 -
what was the shop called again?
I think a wind up phone call is in order :twisted:0 -
Don't worry about it, I think a couple of my posts in the past have been pulled, maybe due to my use of the A word which is drummed into you in these parts from a young age
The guys do what they think they have to & compared to other places I read which go virtually unmoderated, it's the right thing to do. just :P

I wonder if it was removed because of my mention of DH Cycles? HmmmmmmPictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Seemed sensible to pull the thread.
The story as told did seem a bit unbelievable ?0 -
So without mentioning names or telephone #s or anything that might get someone sued, was OP
A. Telling the truth
B. Troll
C. ?0 -
I think it would have been a very elaborate lie, very imaginative too. The guy clearly has an issue to settle the best way he knows how, by trying to make the wider cycling community aware of the potential "dangers" of dealing with these people, and making their business suffer..
Reading through the DH comments, at first you begin to wonder if folk have a vendetta of some kind against them, but the more you read the more fuel there is to the fire (and I know someone personally who had a bad experience with DH recently).
My gut feeling is that it's kosher, but t'internet attracts some strange people (allegedly) so......?Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Definitely not a troll, what I wrote is the honest truth. I know she is my mum and my opinion should by human nature be bias but I have told the truth. Every word was fact. Yes it could sound unbelievable as his actions were irrational.
Ask yourself, what would you do if it happened to your mother? Violence is not the answer, nor is harassment. In my opinion his actions should be known by as many people as possible. What is my crime? Telling people what a shop owner did? It's worth it!
I'd hate to hear people were phoning the guy or placing his number on here, no matter how much he has upset my family. However I did say I'd love the owner to explain himself on here, but that was never going to happen.0 -
It's not worth the paper it's written on and the speculation is a bit pointless. But there's no doubt in my mind he had a legitimate grudge he wanted to air. Which is why I told him to put it down to a nasty experience and move on. ...like i think we all need to do, before this thread gets pulled.0

PS. Yes it did happen last year, the courts were dealing with the incident so I had to wait for the outcome. Yes he got away with it. Only because the law states there must be an independent witness. I am told there are C.C.T.V. cameras in the shop, my only question would be why wasn't there any footage? The police in my opinion did everything they could, but the law doesn't always protect us in my eyes.0 -

Ok, ok lol shutting up now. It just had to be said.0 -
I take it the court case was for assault.
However the 400 quid storage is one of the oldest scams in the book and you should talk to Trading Standards about it.Be happy, communicate happiness.0 -

The storage fee was dropped thank god. The police arranged for the bike to be given back to us as we had paid for the service etc.
What I cannot understand is why a start-up business would try to pull a scam like that. Reputation is key to success, especially in tough times like now.0 -

You're quite right, and I'd be talking long and loud about it to anyone who'll listen. Stupid stunt.Be happy, communicate happiness.0 -
damm - look like I missed a good thread whilst on holiday!
If it went to court wouldn't there be a report in the local paper?0 -
oh lord, not this again
Perhaps it was in the local papers (although I suppose that depends on how much crime there is in your local area) but said incident occured last year and there would be no way of finding out because the case would have been against the individual and not the bike shop and we don't know his name.
It was an awesome thread though.0
