:D:D yes, I've got one but not for the bike :D:D

So, if you're going off on a big days cross country ride do you take a spare tyre as well as tubes (how many tubes??)?

As Wheelies have been unable to supply the shorts I ordered I need to spend £39.99 (and no more!!) and I thought I might need a spare tyre. This one seems to fit the bill......

it's 1.5 wide but mine are 2" - does that matter. I assume as it's a folding tyre it will roll up small into a rucksack??

cheers,

david

I wouldn't bother (1.5 won't be great off road either). Take 2 tubes, some Park Tools glueless patches (if you puncture both spare tubes) and some Park Tools tyre boots (big self adhesive patches) in case you rip out a siewall.

Make sure the tubes are the right size for the tyres you are running.

Even rolled up it will still be fairly bulky.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • It will fold up, but not so small. Carrying a spare tyre is a bit ott.

I'd advise taking two tubes and a repair kit. Wrap some duct tape around your pump and use that as an emergency repair if a tyre splits - it'll get you home, but don't be doing any drop offs!!
    Be happy, communicate happiness.
