Best cycling roads in the UK

The road from Lyndhurst to Brokenhurst in the New Forest on Saturday was pretty good and among the best I ever ridden along. It had a good surface, stunning views and even seemed to have considerate drivers who didn't mind us riding 2 or even 3 abreast Plus the weather was excellent and the head wind we had on the way out had gone
Truly a wonderful ride, especially after a track session at Calshot
One of the best days this year (so far) :!:

I did a coast to coast in January in the Highlands. I left Alness at first light and made for Ullapool on the west coast.
Going over the middle of the barren Highland landscape whilst it was covered in a thick frost was amazing. The road was great, the hills were mostly gently rolling and the frozen waterfalls, rivers and lochs just made the day perfect.
It was bloody cold though.0 -
Trough of Bowland Lancs - amazing scenary, wildlife, wilderness, challenging climbs, twisty roads and not too many cars. I like dropping down from Lancaster way towards Dunsop Bridge, whooosh! Best done when icy for excitement value.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

...but not in the UK
A real favourite of mine is a little road from a hamlet called Halton Gill that follows the river Skirfare down towards the Wharfe. The route from the top of Fleet Moss all the way down Wharfedale is pretty special to me too, especially as when I'm on these roads it means that I'm done climbing for the day and it's downhill almost all the way home! The highlight of my cycling year so far has been bombing it south over Buttertubs pass with a big tailwind - even more fun than doing it on the motorbike (which really is saying something).
Looking forward to rediscovering the North York Moors this coming weekend too...0 -
The road from Glyneath to Heol Senni going through Ystradfellte is my favorite. I am yet to see a car on this road, and the scenery is stunning...Complicating matters since 19650

B7076 from gretna to Elvanfoot, then to Sanquar via Wanlockhead. Amazing empty road.0

The loop road from Helmsley north through Carlton and back down to Kirkbymoorside is, I reckon, the best road in the North York Moors - and possibly the best road I have ever ridden. Stunning.0 -
My Favourite Peak District Roads are the Cat & Fiddle A537, Hollin Lane and Blaze Hill but there are countless others round there, which I do not know the name of. Anyone know the road which goes through Flash, for example?0

I don't know about specific roads but I much prefer smoothies.
I get a +3 mph going from rough to smooth, it is truly wonderful wherever I am.
But if you need a ride then the route from Stockton on Tees to Middleton in Teesdale is a beaut even if a bit rough in a lot of places.
Don't the Dales organisations even think about us cyclists :?:0 -

I did that ride yesterday. Traffic was mad busy. Must have seen a good 6 or 7 cars going by. Even quieter when I turned off left up that climb, apart from the land rover convoy. Definitely one of my favourite roads.0 -
The little one-way road from Errwood reservoir in Goyt Valley out onto the Cat.
Especially when closed to motorised traffic on summer weekends.
Magic.0 -

Think I done that one to last week, but the other way! Nice little climb about midway between Heol Senni and Ystradfellte.0 -

That's the Devils Elbow, a nice climb, but a pretty sketchy descent!Complicating matters since 19650 -

Does this take you up Carlton bank where cleveland wheelers host their open hill climb? I have raced on that puppy a couple of times, and man is it one hard hill for racing. Possibly the hardest hill climb course I have done.0 -

Magic.
Have you seen that amaing stream which crosses the road? Incredible!
Hadn't noticed that particular one, I'll watch out for it next time, the whole area is pretty nice really though.0
