Spoke Protector Removal
My Giant SCR2 has a discrete (ish) spoke protector. I would like to remove this as it is now getting rather grubby. Do I need to remove the cassette to do this? Will I need a spacer in place of where the protector would have been? If not, would I need to adjust the High and Low limit screws on the mech as effectively the cogs would move nearer the spokes? Presumably the gears would need re-indexing?
Sorry for all the questions but slightly nervous of messing this up. Thanks.

It's probably easiest to remove the cassette if you have the tools but if not it could be cut off with a pair of snips. Definitely don't need to reindex anything as it only comes into contact with the spokes and doesn't intefere with the gearing in any way shape or form.0

As an 11 year old boy I managed to remove the spoke protector (pie plate) frm the back wheel of my mtb by using nothing more sophisticated than a pair of scissors. Ditch that pie plate its a crime against aesthetics....worse than black socks imo.0

Chop it out with a knife or scisors. Nothing will need adjusting afterwards.0
