Tow path riding, THREE punctures in one go, a bit of glass and two stone chips, all discovered in sequence after breaking my thumbs putting the tyre back on and pumping up a bit.

Now my thumbs hurt and my elbow's killing me.

Sympathy - I put a new tube on the other day after a struggle - the Marathons are a pig to get on and off - only to discover that I'd pinched the tube and it was flat the next morning so I had to go through it all again - throbbing thumbs and grease all down my work shirt - plus I broke a finger nail

nowt since the bontrager hard case race lites last august at £10 each... and i do 6 miles off road on 25mm tyres...on an 18 mile round commute

they are looking slightly peppered however
  • Ah the joy of kevlar armoured tyres, lovely till you have to get them on & off

It should be much easier next time.....and there will be a next time, but hopefully not for a while

Or until you want to ride in the wet, or until you want to ride quickly...

do they shrink then..ive replaced tubes on both (for better valves) without a problem

do both.. intrigued as to the ride quickly bit

am i missing something here :?:
  • To qualify my statement ........................................

    I have a combination of Armadillos on my various bikes , 23, 25 & 38's (2 roadies & 1 hybrid)

I find that the initial fit & first puncture has been utterly miserable getting the b*ggers on and off. The inflexibility is nasty. They also spring on with a ferocity that cause pinch flats.

By puncture two they have lost a lot of the rigity and make changing tubes much easier.

As for Biondino's wet comment.....thoroughly agree, especially the 38's. Had my last serious off on those, front wheel shot out from under me.

Speed wise I am not too bothered about, especially on the 23's
