Tell me if I'm being unreasonable
There happen to have been alot of bdays this weekend amongst my friends
Friday night - my housemate drives, I get drunk but continue to furnish her with drinks and J2O's all night
Saturday night - I drive, not one of the girls I drove in offers me a drink all night from 8 to gone midnight untyill i ditch them and go home alone, they head off to another pub and (I bet) to a shocking club that i would avoid even if i had been drunk.
Am I right to be peeved at this? Is thie furnishig of the Designated driver with drinks not an unspokien rule of similar significance to the round buying principle of old? It's a bit too late to do anything about it now but.....
P.S - yes I know - should have ridden in and drunk anyway!

Option 1) Do not wait to be offered a drink. Just tell the person buying the round, " And mine is a .......Please"
Option 2) Get the ground rules clearly stated and agreed before going out.
Option 3) Dump your friends & replace with others more in tune with your thinking (so you will not have to tell them.
Dangerous to assume that young people will have been brought up to understand these things - but then you have already learned that the hard way0 -
That's pants.
You should have had a hissy fit and demanded a drink.0 -
I too thought buying 'Des' his/her choice of soft drinks was an unwritten rule.0
-
Next time you go out and one of the offenders is designated driver, spike their drink with vodka all night then ring the police as they are setting off home.
That'll learn them!0 -

One T (sp)
BTW, that is very poor. Charge them taxi prices next time (double time after midnight and 75 quid if anyone vomits in your vehicle).0 -

1. Don't get drunk, it's not obligatory, big or grown up.
2. You were ragged on Sunday after two late nights. A wake up call that Anno Domini will catch up with you one day.
3. Since when did buying a round become a "thing of old"
Young people today.............Where the neon madmen climb0 -
The ragging was a result of having ridden wet slimy muddy trails all winter whereas today it turned sunny, the trails were dry and my tyres felt like they were made of superglue whioch encouraged me to go faster than was strictly neccessay for the first half of the ride - safe to say about 2/3rds through i could nt keep up the pace and had a minor blowout
worth it though....
and the point of the story is that I DID NT get drunk!! :PWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

By your own admission you were drunk on Friday night. (you could always edit the original post if you're quick!)
The rest of your description is way too technical for a humble roadie.
You haven't strayed in here from a MTB forum in error?.
Easy mistake to make if you've had a few.Where the neon madmen climb0 -
d, do you enjoy Nappes between thrusts?0
-
At what point did you abandon them? Was it as a result of not being bought a carbonated caramel flavour beverage made with vegetable extracts all night? Or was it due to their decision to move onto somewhere possibly less salubrious? Why do you expect girls to be aware of Pub lore anyway?
Chicago Dave, thanks but your avatars warning is too late for me, slid down my GF's stairs on my rear end last night .0 -
well yeah - but I had a whole day to recover (at sodding work, for no extra overtime) and was nt THAT drunk
CD - how did you know about the Nappes?!?!
SG - good point on the female lack of knowledge though and to answer the question it was kinda a combination of the twoWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
