Hi all

New to the forum, but not new to biking. I've been looking & reading into the Escape ... but have a few questions still if i can.

I've rode an R2 recently, and i like it, it fits me well ... can anyone confirm, are all the series the same geometry ? I have looked, but cant find the info anywhere ??

Anyone know the years they were produced, & what specs ?

This looks a good price http://www.ashcycles.com/power/index.ph ... cts_id=521

also older, and cheaper http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... pring_2007

The only other bike that i didn't get to try, was the Marin Muirwoods (tried a 19", 20.5" out of stock)

Any owners / thoughts appreciated

The Giant Bikes website should have all the information you need.

    Escape R 2009
    Escape M 2009
    Escape R 2008
    Escape m 2008
    Escape 2007 range
    Escape 2006 range
The bike didn't exist before 2006, the Escape R didn't exist before 2008.

Both Escape R and M range use the Giant XTC frame, they're all the same frame.

Taken from the bike radar review of the '07 Escape M1:
"Giant's Escape city bikes are wisely based on its excellent cross country XTC hardtail range. They have the same hydro-formed aluminium chassis and riding position, but with rigid forks and some roadified parts bolted on."

You'll be hard pushed, I think and I could be worng, to find any Giant Escape earlier than 2008.

Brilliant bikes, I've got a Giant M2 (most likely 2007), Prefer the road bike as I always use roads, but if you're going through a park and soft trails, the agility of the M range is superb.

Planning on riding longer distances say 15-20miles+ then the 700c tyres of the R range (the only difference between the two, I think) are a god send.

I've got the M2 2008 version - I think its a brilliant bike - light, responsive but tough enough to tackle offroad and bumping kerbs - its also got a wide range of brazings so you can add racks, mudguards etc - the gearing is good 28/38/48 front end - only thing I didn't like were the Maxxis tyres which were very puncture prone DDD likes to go faster than me which is why he changed from his M2 - would have probably bought an M1 or M0 but this was my first attempt as commuting and I didn't want to spend too much until I was sure about it 8)

Only difference between mine and the M0 are hydrolic discs rather than mechanical, a 26/36/48 front ring and a beefed up drive train

    Spot on for that.

I'm still surprised that Giant dont list precise measurements of the frames ... so you can compare bikes ... as long as there all the same frame from model to model, its no problem, just wanted to check before spending.

DDD, so whats the R & M tags defined for then ? ... i cant work it out ?

The 'R' spec is the road version - 700 wheels as opposed to 26" - check this

Dunno - the spec definitely says 700 Alex wheels - sure it was an R and not an M ?
