Washing a dry clean only jersey

I recently bought a dhb finchdean jersey, the yellow fluoro edition. It was only after I'd worn it that I realised its dry clean only.
I'm tempted to just throw it in the washing machine and let it take a chance, has anyone done this and if so did it survive ? any other suggestions ?, I can't get it dry cleaned after every ride as its too expensive and takes too long.
Any help will be greatfully received.

I've got some kit which is 'hand-wash only'. I'm in the same boat in that I'm wondering just how much damage can be done by sticking it in the machine. I'm guessing though that the colours will probably run or something!

Years of camping rough have taught me the following :- Water which is too hot will shrink your kit. Hand wash, pull into shape and do not tumble dry.

I can't believe that anyone would make a dry clean only jersey. When you consider that jerseys need to be washed after every ride it strikes me as totally impractical!

I throw my 'dry clean only' jerseys in at 30deg; no problems thus far. Although I've now realised that there is a 'hand wash' cycle - check your washer.
    Where\'s me jumper?

Exactly, if only I'd read the label before I wore it, I could have sent it back.

Don't worry - the washing machine manufacturers have made it easy for you. '90' is code for 'dry clean only clothes'. Stick it on, job's a good 'un.

I wash all my gear In the washing machine. Turn all the items inside out and wash on 0'c using a specialist sports wash program. Also do not use any conditioner, just use a gentle non bio wash liquid.

Dry clean: put in a drum filled with liquid and swirl around, then dry

Never dry clean clothes that have "dry clean only" on label. Have always washed in machine.

I use the 'wool wash' setting on our machine for my kit, though none of it is dry clean only.
  • I have the Finchdean Fluoro, it's been in the washing machine a few times with no problems - I just put it on a delicate wash.[/quote]
