...and, sorry to be thick, but am confused by said product on amazon, as it is described as:
Edge 705HR+SC (with Heart Rate Monitor & Speed Cadence, EU)
yet it seems to suggest that I need to buy the cadence sensor aswell... for an extra 40 quid0 -
I bought mine 6m ago for £256, now at £258 from http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/905/garmin-edge-705-heart-rate-monitor---speed-cadence including HRM & cadence sensor.
They do it about £235 without the cadence sensor. http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/904/garmin-edge-705-heart-rate-monitor

Yep, it uses satallites to measure speed & plot yourroutes etc.

You only have to buy the cadence sensor if you want it.
The advantage of the 705 is that you can just buy the base unit and add to it later or buy what you need.

Yes and no.
It gets its speed from the GPS satellites, as mine does now, but if the cadence/speed sensor is fitted, which mine isn't while completing a few equipment changes, it will get the speed from that. There's no such thing as too old.0
