Just been to Glentress - woo hoo! :D I can't believe in the 5 years since I got back into MTB's that I haven't been there before now - just 2hrs up the road. Red in the morning blue after lunch at the cafe. Counting the days until I get to go back. I normally just ride the Cheviots and North Pennines and thought that the likes of Glentress was for more focussed downhill/freeride stuff. Just riding my Rockhopper I've had a top time although better tyres might be in order for the next trip. Racing Ralphs are trashed now and they didn't have anywhere near enough grip on the berms of Spooky Wood.

Did I say how much fun I've had!! The lads at work are bored with me now so I thought I'd tell you lot.

Agree, I did the black a few weeks back and it was awesome. I don`t think there was one section that i didn`t enjoy. Its around 30km too, very impressed.

It`s a bit more of a trek for me though, around 200 miles so it`ll have to be a stopover.

absolutly love glentress... spooky woods is immense! :D
The freeride park is brilliant aswell... couldnt master the wall ride... was trying it for ages. My old carrera kracken breathed its last breath at glentress, trying to clear the box at the bottom of the park!

Black run next time I think. Just wan't to get afeel for the place this time, although it has to be said that what we did was excellent - like all your favourite trail bits condensed into one spectacular playground. Wall ride was closed though and didn't really have time to play in the freeride park. We also totally missed the northshore stuff. Lots of reasons to go back then! :D

Anyone got any suggestions for which tyres would be best for the next visit?

Drove through Innerleithen to get to Glentress. Apparently there's a good ice cream shop there too.

  • 2.1 High Rollers perhaps?

I second Innerleithen, it's truly a cut above Glentress and it's always significantly quieter.
  • whats the Black like at GT?

Is it as fun as the red route or is it just more XC type trails? Never did it last time I went because I was hiving too much fun on the red and freeride park lol.
