That's yet another tick in the hybrid box, get scalped and you can blame the bike, but scalp a roadie and its so much more enjoyable! I'm not sure about the SCR thing, I don't participate because I don't think racing on public roads is safe, and also I'd disqualify myself by going through the occasional red light. How about a race round RP as a compromise - 1 lap or 3, whichever you prefer...

Nah you're alright Richmond Park has only got a 20mph limit and I don't like breaking the law....

A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game

I think 25 mph is de rigeur for the embankment. Maintain that and you're fairly safe - only G66 JG and CJCP to worry about. Thank heaven we don't see LiT down there often - 30 mph on a fixie? Oh my god.

What time are you fellas on Embankment? Just wondering if I'm ever likely to see you on one of my early morning training runs? I'm normally hit Embankment near Vauxhall at 7 heading west to RP and leave RP at 7:40. Small window of opportunity I know.
    About mumble, mumble, mumble.

Bit too early for me that. :)
Did spy a chap riding an unladen Cervelo this morning. He was quite rapid, although he did speed up after a shoulder-check. Maintained the 5 metre gap, slightly to the side with a bit of effort. We both had to swing very wide to maintain speed while avoiding a late-indicating left-turning van whilst spinning up millbank.

Yep, bit early for me too. (thank god.) I usually head out of Roehampton Gate around 0810.

23 MPH seems to be about my cruising speed at the moment
That's not to say I can't nudge 28 when I need to on the flat.

About to up from 42:16 to 44:16 in the very near future - ring expansion kit on order, so I should be good for another mile or two an hour.
    "Impressive break"

I must just point out that DDD suffers from "Serial Challenge Disorder" a very serious condition that causes him to challenge everyone/everything, i'm sure with his extensive therapy and shock sessions one day he'll beat SCD.

We're all fighting for you DDD :P

    +1 :)

Probably just as well that none of us are likely to encounter Jash on the embakment - I go for weeks without being scalped, and the family do suffer when the worst happens.

I'm normally late and hitting HoP at 8ish

I would rather lick my tyres and swallow than lose to you on a hybrid. On a road bike, a proper bike and you scalped me then fine, Chapeau sir. But while you're on a Hybrid, you're just fodder beneath the contempt of my Giant SCR 3.

Do you really think you could take anyone on a hybrid, just 'cos you're on your roadie??? Really!!? I bet there are at least a couple of flat bar riders out there that could scalp you, you just haven't come across them on your commute...ah well, another superior roadie...

You really need to look at a few more of DDDs posts. They're mostly playful bombast*. Don't take things so seriously.

No need to apologise Ginge, most of posts are playful often delusion (did you see the post about LiT fancying me!?! As if...) boasts.

If Mat can get around a Richmond Park lap in under 40mins of course he can scalp me. Sure I can ride at 20mph, sure today I destroyed a dude on the same bike as me at 28.9mph and this weeks top speed (on a flat) is 29.4mph 8) . But I feel no shame in admitting that a person on hybrid is quicker than even if I kill myself tyring to prevent that from happening.

    Its all in fun kids.
