Poploc shifter Positioning

Hi everyone,
Just upgraded the OH's bike to O/S bars and am having a dilemma about the poploc shifter. Are these designed to always be on the left hand side of the bars? Because of the gear window thingies on the shifter it wont sit next to the gear lever close enough and is on the wide part of the bar and wont move inboard any further. This means the grip isnt fully on the bar.
Where do other people run theirs? Inside everything or between brake lever and shifter? If it sits between brake and gears it seems to obscure the shifter paddle.
I am thinking it looks like it might fit better on the other side of the bars, does anyone else have theirs on that side?
This is what I am trying to describe:

I don't think there is a *right* place to attach the lever. it's personal preference really, and what's comfortable for you. I opted for the set-up you have as it was the easiest and I didn't want the gears moved to far inwards.
Try a few setups and see how you get on, remember, you will be braking changing gear a lot more than the poploc oepration0 -
Thanks cheesey the setup above is how she has always had the shifters and everything positioned on the old narrow (25.4dia bars) but the problem is i cant push the poploc on to the new O/S bars far enough to get the grip on correctly.
Are your bars oversized?http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

I had the same problem as you with O/S bars and the poploc lever. With some Shimano shifters you can take the gear indicator off but I think its only on the XT and XTR.
Or you can buy a SRAM shifter they fit better with the poploc lever, same company so it should do.
Or you can do what I did just take off the poploc lever and forget about locking fork. I hardly ever used it anyway. If you want to keep the lockout you can convert the fork to fork top lockout but you have to buy some new parts which arent cheap and start pulling the forks apart.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -
My bars were oversized (Easton EA70) they were full width. I did struggle to fit it all on, and that was at full width, if you have a narrow bar set-up, it could be problematic.0

Nice bike blorg, yep it is where the bars start to bulge, they are risers as well so perhaps they bulge further out as well if that makes sense. Will have a play around tonight to see if i can get it any better.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

i found my old poploc lever (same as yours) just about slid under my lx gear indicators. one thing to remember for anyone with bulging os bars, don't try to pry the poploc any wider as the metal does'nt like going wider as i snapped the clamp on mine easily, doh.0

Thanks for the advice Dunker, we managed to get the poploc under the shifter window with a little encouragement.... (didnt try to open the poploc clamp on your say so - thanks for that!).http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

This is how mine is set up:
Not ideal because the Shimano gear shifters are really fat.0
