smelly shoes

hey folks....
anyone know any remedies for sorting out some pongy cycling shoes? Its not actually a sweaty feet smell... more like a damp type smell?

    Spray a pair of old socks with 'Febreeze' type stuff and stick them in your shoes after use.

    Spray with athlete's foot powder to kill of the bacteria.

    It's a good thing to do after a ride (or dust the inside with talc).

    For a cheap and cheerful fix, throw a load of bi-carb of soda in them and leave it in until your next ride. Just knock it all out before you ride and it'll help stop them stinking. Also some coffee granules will inside can help clear out bad smells. I've been doing it for years with my running shoes and more recently with my bike shoes.
