Are 09 Centaur chainsets inferior to 08?

I've been told that the 09 have pressed painted rings where as the 08s were machined and anodised (like Chorus and Record). Apparently in order to keep the price down with all the currency issues going on Campag have had to lower the quality in some places.

I want to upgrade to carbon and I'm not sure which year to go for.

The 08 carbon Centaur UT crankset was introduced with the inferior pressed rings while the 08 alloy version had the better machined rings.
Both 09 Centaur chainsets now have pressed rings and the alloy set is now effectively equivalent to the 08 Veloce.
The same goes for casettes; 09 Centuar is 08 Veloce.

The 08 Centaur rings on the CF chainsets were already poor so I doubt they can downgrade them anymore.

The ALLOY version had the better rings? That's what what I have at the moment and it hasn't been too impressive.
