Delays in Changing Up

Hi
I have a Claud Butler with a 7 speed cassette and Shimano Acera rear derailleur. Since Friday I have a problem changing up (from a lower to high gear) in that there is a deay of between 2 and 15 seconds for chain to move onto the next gear.
Things I have done:
Cleaned and re-oiled the chain
Cleaned and oiled the derailleur
Cleaned the cassette
Cleaned inner and outer cable.
Changing from high to low - no problems.
All help gratefully received as trying to keep ahead of traffic from the lights is a pain!

you just need to tweak the cable tension, assuming that as you release the tension the mech moves to the smallest ring, unscrew the barrel adjuster on the mech 1/2 a turn until the changes are smooth.
If the mech sits in the biggest ring with the least tension, screw the barrel adjuster in0 -
Hi Ride Whenever
Thanks for the advice, I will adjust before starting at for home.0 -
The cable is the most likely cause- look for kinks and lube it. if it's running free then maybe the derailleur spring is losing tension? How old is it?
Cheers,

Thanks for all the help.
I adjusted the cable a couple of times as Ride Whenever suggested and everything is fine. Back to an enjoyable ride!0
