Giant Defy larger tyres...

Looking to either buy a Giant defy 2.5 or Cannondale Synapse.
My question is I know the Cannondale has room for 28c tyres, however can anyone advise if the defy has the same clearance?
After switching to 28c last year, and since im not a racer I love them. Are the any other bikes in the £700-£800 bracket which would have clearance do people know? I like the look of the Allez sport but theres no way they'd fit in there!
