Local Cycle Clubs

I am hopefully purchasing my first Road bike soon and in the next couple of months I move from Rayleigh to Upminster.

I am hoping to join a local cycle club for social rides to start and who knows if I drop a couple of stone I may even enter a novice race or some kind of charity ride.

Anyway is anyone a member of a club ? if so is it a good thing to be in? and can anyone recommend any clubs around the Upminster romford havering general area?

    BCF website eastern region.. loads round there. becontree wheelers.. east london velo..glendenes blue armada,,,, yer essex road....... ilford purple patchers.. eastleigh.

    I'm not local but am a member of my local club in south-east London and thoroughly recommend it.

    Phreak - That's not Dulwich Paragon is it? I join the hordes descending on the roads with them too. Their Saturday ride has up to about 60 riders.... It's getting too popular for its own good.
