That Good Friday Feeling - Bronte Country anyone?
Friday 10 April is Good Friday.
I'm up for a run out - I've got a 25-miler lined up around what might loosely be called Bronte Country (Wycoller/Haworth way) if anyone's interested.
Start point - Worsthorne village square, 2 miles due East of Burnley town centre (linky to map HERE - post code for tw@t-nav users is BB10 3LS). Plenty of parking in the square opposite the church.
Start time - leave Worsthorne at 9:30am. Bring plenty food and drink 'cos there's precious little opportunity to refuel en route.
Route map from me on request.
If it's pishing it down - don't bother.

Sorry mate gonna have to duck out, the missus has made plans which involve me and i`m hoping for a quiet weekend!!!0

another time, definitely mate. i'm only in skipton. i've already promised a cycle with the better half in gisburn, and she's only just started, i think 25 miles would hinder her progress more than help!0

Pfft.
What a set of sorry excuses that was.
The answers are as follows -
Work = pull a sicky. Unless your employer is more obsessed with holidays than you are.
Wife/girlfriend = how the hell did she get into the living room from the kitchen anyway? Shorter chain required. And stop letting her have an opinion.
Kids = when I was your age, all I had to play with a piece of string and a lump of coal, and I was happy about it.
In-laws = there are people who will sort this problem out for you. It might cost, but you'll only need to pay once. Unless they live at Afan of course.
Meanwhile, the real men will be out on the trails!!!0 -

Doesn't work for the self employed.
Saturday? One of your routes, with the footpaths carefully excised.Frank Yates0 -

unless its raining and you will be in bed,0 -
Ha well you all missed a corker.
30 miles of the best the South Pennines can throw at you - not much in the way of rain, warm (ish) and good company too. Big up the Clitheroe Massive!
And back in the pub for half past two!0 -

You did better than me then. i went round the tops of Hebden Bridge, up past Hardcastle Craggs. A the point where we were in the middle of nowhere, the heavens opened. I dont think I've ever been as wet.
Cracking ride though0 -

Bwa ha ha ha!!
Think that we just skirted round the edge of that - got caught in it a bit at the top of Gorple but nothing nasty!!0 -
got absolutely hammered with rain at gisburn. so much so that my lass couldn't see properly with rain in her face and we had to give up part way round!
proper soaking and cold didn't help.0
