Disc brakes for road vs MTB
Is there a difference between mechanical disc brakes for use on a MTB and those for road bike?
I want to put drop bars on a MTB (for good reasons!!), and so need to use Road STI Levers. Can I use this with standard MTB disc brakes (BB5 etc) or do they need to be specific to road levers

FWIW the cable pull on road levers is different (less) to MTB levers - you can get road-specific disc calipers - Avid BB7 Road. That said, I do run a bike with a road brake lever connected to an MTB cable disc caliper - adjustment is a bit more acute, but it's still plenty powerful enough.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
