Cannock Chase at night...

As the clocks have changed and it seems spring has sprung im thinking of heading down to cannock chase from Derby after work during the week to do a few laps of Followthedog . Arriving there around 8ish.
Im aware the carpark at cannock closes at dusk. Is it ok/safe to park on the verge outside - then just make your way to the trailhead? whats security like in the evening? any undesirables kicking around? Any info would be much appreciated, as id love to make this after work fixture

a mate of mine has done a few night rides there and ive just bought myself a hope vision light to go with him so imagine its alright0

We have done "the dog" a few times at night, parking on the verges near the main car park at Birches Valley without any problems.0

You could always park at the top (on Marquis Drive) and pick up the Dog between section 12-13.
Be careful where you park after 8pm - the local chavs have come out of hibernation.0
