Shimano Dura Ace compatibility

Hello all

Excuse my ignorance, but what cassette can you run with a Dura Ace 7700 octalink double chainset? I know that Shimano would recommend the appropriate 9 speed Dura Ace cassette, but are there 8 speed cassettes that would work just as well?

You can run any Shimano cassette that fits the rest of the drive train. It must match your shifters and if you are using a road rear mech have a max sprocket size of 27 teeth.
