Medium Boardman Road Comp Size OK for me?

I want to buy a Boardman Road Comp. The Bikehut chaps tell me that for a compact Boardman frame a 5' 11" fella like me needs a medium. I think that equates to about a 53-54cm frame.

Despite the fact that Boardmans are meant to have a longer top tube I must admit that I'm used to a 58cm frame and feel a little worried about going for the smaller one.

The medium seems to fit OK- certainly seems fine by rule of thumb.

Any advice?

(Apologies if this is a duplicate thread- thought I started it earlier and it appears to have vanished)

The two main things to consider are how long is the top tube compared to what you are used to and how long is the head tube. You need to be able to get the bar height correct without too many spacers. As a rough guide you should be within 1cm on the TT and the max spacers should not exceed 4cm. You should always set your saddle position first so get this right and see how long a stem you now need. Again as a rough guide you should be looking at between 10cm and 12cm.
  • On the Halfords answers site a 5' 10" person has been recommended a small frame and a 5' 7" has been recommended a medium.
That kind of inconsistency worries me.
If I buy the medium frame does anyone know how adjustable the boardman headsets are?

I'm 5'11'' and I have a medium road comp I've only got short legs too so you should be ok.

Have a sit on both sizes in the shop they should have one of the other models in the correct size.

It's got a flip flop stem too so you can turn it over if you need more height, I've done that, but for comfort becuse my gut slaps on my legs when I'm on the drops :?

I'm 5'11" and I bought the large team carbon as the saddle was at its limit on the medium.
I was also told the medium was the right size for me but my old bike had a larger frame size and this was bigger than the boardman large never mind the medium.

The guy in the shop let me attatch my pedals to both the large and medium.
The large worked out a much better fit , I was a bit worried about the reach as the stem is long but this fitted fine. If it feels right and you have no aches and pains then what does it matter
