Hi has any one got one of these Diamondback xrk8's are they any good are the gears ok and are the light. I am also looking at a Carrera subway they look quite good wor £300?
Any help would be good.

    From my recent research into that very bike, I found there were quite a few reports of the xrk8 hub gear self destructing within a year. You could get lucky, but I decided not to take the risk.

    My boss helped me put together my new £300 commuting steed yesterday afternoon and my initial thoughts are very positive. The range and shifting of the Shimano Alfine hub gear is perfect; the 20" frame is a good fit for me at 5'10"; the saddle is comfy and looks very PlanetX/ Fizik esque; the 485 hydraulic disc brakes are nicely progressive.
