Broken Shifters?

Had a crash at the weekend. Ended up over the handlebars.

Shifters took most of the impact (Ultegra 6600). Scratched and slightly dented. The internal workings seem fine, but they're not easily returning to straight when shifting. Seems the whole unit has been squashed a bit, so a lot of friction with the none moving base. (rather than a spring issue).

Can this be fixed? Should I simply pull them more apart, or buy new shifters?

thx.

Look for a replacement on Ebay, maybe just the single one to replace the damaged side. Or just get another set and sell your damaged ones.

Some mechanically minded owners are able to take these apart to rebuild. Sell them on Ebay, as i've seen broken Dura Ace shifters fetch surprising high prices!

Pull back the rubber hoods and check that the shifter body hasn't been damaged - they tend to break as they're not very strong if they take a vertical impact. If the lever body's knackered then the whole shifter is toast. The body itself is moulded from a glass-filled polymer which is almost impossible to repair. IME STIs are far more prone to crash damage in comparison to Ergos.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
