Replacing the rear wheel

Is it better to replace both so they are the same make or can one be different from the other?

I have a pretty bad buckle in my rear wheel and was wonderingf whether to just replace the back one or buy a completely new set?

Help and advice is much appreciatted.

    You can mix and match as much as you like.

    How bad's the wheel? Have you considered truing it yourself? Have a look at Sheldon Brown and/or Park Tool for instructions.

    Different wheels is fine, only the cost of a wheelset may be better than each individually, if you anticipate changing the front in the medium term.
