Wheel issues (Mavic Aksiums)

My front wheel makes a knocking noise when I' climbing. Everytime I cant the bike over during a downstroke, the wheel recieves force from the side and moves across, making a noise. I can move the wheel left and right about 5mm by hand, and every time i do, it makes a deep clicking noise.

Any idea what the issue is? The noise seems to come from the hub, but I'm not entirely sure. It's not touching the break pads when I move it, so the noise isn;t from it connecting with anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

Sounds like your wheel bearings are shot.
You'll need a new pair of bearings fitting to the hub.

Whoaa there, not so fast. First of all, how old are the wheels? Secondly, have you looked at the locknut which is used to adjust play in the bearings? I have the same wheels on my winter bike.

I know it's a bit obvious, but do you have the magnet/ sensor for a computer on the front wheel??
