Hi Guys,
I'm wanting to upgrade my road bike's wheels.
Can you recommend some wheels for abou £150 give or take?
Cheers

new or s/hand?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

What you upgrading from?Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Planet x model B's0

If new then yes, Planet X Model Bs would be perfect, I agree0

What about Mavic Aksiums 2009 model?x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

New please.
My current wheels are Rigida Flyers. THink they come on a Giant OCR2 (2006) as standard.
Maybe i should push the boat out a little £200 absolute max....0 -

I'm in a similar boat and have nine speed Shimano on an OCR1. According to the P-X website these wheels are 10 only so I ruled them out.
This is a tricky question and one I've been stewing on awhile.
Aksiums sound OK and scored well in a C+ review recently but there're a few complaints about them here. Q heavy too.
You've got Kore Gradient II (no reviews from forumers so far), Fulcrum 5s (fight to get many kinds of tyres on), handbuilt open pros, a few Shimano models - none of which really appeal.
So if you find a good answer let me know!0 -

Dunno. OP said nothing about number of speeds so I assumed 10.0 -
IMHO you won't beat the £154 Planet-X Model B's unless you spend considerably more than £200
Although their web site says 10 speed compatible, they do not actually have the taller splines on the freehub, so 9 speed should be fine.0 -
I had some Alex Rims wheels that came on my time trial bike. I made them much better and expensive by putting new decals on them that I made myself. You'd never know the difference between the £1400 rear wheel and mine...
Perhaps you could do something similar?0 -
Guys
Following on this post, as a large fella (close on 14st) would I be better with Model c's or will model b's suffice, I'm not going to race them just for Sportive's and training on a Spesh Roubaix - my Open sports are "flappy" especially on hills
just interested in your thoughts please0 -
Depending on what you have at the moment, changing tyres may be a better bet until you can stetch to a little more. If you have the standard tyres on, Pro race 3's and some lightweight tubes will be a big difference for about £50-£60.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0
