Hi all. Im looking for some advice on which type of road bike would be best for this type of long distance ride. I was wondering if a cyclocross bike would be suitable due to its more relaxed geometry or should I go down the full carbon race route? Im a mountain biker by trade so any advice, particularly from somebody who has undertaken this ride would be much appreciated. Im looking to spend up to £1300.

Thanks!

Paul.

If you're not carrying luggage then just about any road bike that is comfortable would do. FWI I'm (hopefully) doing a 5 day unsupported LEJOG in July carrying only the bare essentials (with a bag drop half way as well) probably in a large saddle bag and I'm either using a Giant SCR2.0 or a Kuota Kharma. The Giant takes mudguards which is a plus in my eyes so at the moment I reckon that's what I'll use.
    More problems but still living....

If you arent carrying luggage - then a carbon race bike would be good, so long as its comfortable for you - so you dont want it massively stiff.

Maybe one of the sportif bikes would be worth a look.
