Interesting...VDV only 10th, an Irish rider 18th who we never speak about much on here , Philpe Deignan, and Danielson...not a bad TT at all. Who is Philpe Deignan? We all know Roche, but...Deignan?

He was a very good amateur, a team mate of Rémi Pauriol. He had a couple of seasons with Ag2r but injury and illness - some from over training - stopped him from progressing. Yes, he's talented.

One more thing, I saw the likes of Contador drafting with Irizar. Contador caught Irizar for one minute but the Basque sat on his wheel, sometimes just one metre behind him at times and there was a raging headwind so this saved a lot of energy. Velonews describes the pair riding "pedal stroke for pedal stroke over the closing kilometers as they struggled against the wind."

On occasions Irizar would pass Contador and give him a break. It's very poor that neither got a hefty time penalty. Zabriskie was really second fastest on the day.

That's what I saw, too. Right up eachother's rear wheels for the last 5km. The commies didn't seem to notice.
Now a flat ITT with a strong headwind, dominated by the 'tots'.
    The world's gone crazy.
    Look at what followed.
    Dave Zee
    Stef Clemont
    Denis Menchov
Gutierrez up there, but almost a minute and a half down.
    2006 seems a distant memory.....or nightmare.

Deignan? Seems to have been riding at the top level for ages, now....
    Nota renowned trialist, though.
    Try Oscar Sevilla.

    Here you go. http://www.irishcycling.com/publish/news/art_3503.shtml

Philip had some fantastic rides in the '07 Vuelta, especially in the stage that was won by Jason McCartney. PD rolled in 50 seconds later with the aformentioned VDV.

Deignan is beginning to ride well. He didnt have the best of times at AG2R although he rode strong last year with a solid ride to the finish in the Giro and some good riding at the Tour de Suisse - on the stage to Verbier he was in the leading break of 3 that was caught just 5km from the line. (Verbier is one of the mountain finishes in this year's tour). He started the season this year down at Langkawi and road inside the top 15 on each stage. His first race in Europe this year was GP Insubria, and in the GP Lugano next day he was the rider that caused the break that stayed away for most of the race:

This year should be a good year for him. He will race and train in Spain until the Giro. Apparently he is very happy with Cervelo so hopefully things will get better and better for him

The ITT wasn´t absolutelly flat, had Auitilla climb, short but heavy hill in the middle (i know very well the route becouse i live in Palencia now)
If you like Flandes, Roubaix or Eroica, you would like GP Canal de Castilla, www.gpcanaldecastilla.com

Deignan placed highly today I see. 9 seconds down with LL and AC. I guess we will be seeing him at Sastre's side come the TDF...or hope so anyway
