Seat post sizing.... (stupid question?)

I need to buy a new seat post clamp, I took my seatpost out, and measured it as 26mm....

But I can't seem to find clamps at that size. Is it really a 28.6mm? :oops:

I can only find a tape measure, which i'm assuming is wrong on the initial couple of mm (around the metal 'clip').

Any help would be handy...

    the seat post clamp you need is the diameter of the seat tube our seat post goes into prob 31.8 but ask the lbs.

    They all seem to be 31.8 so will go with one of those.
