Nothing happened today

Well so what you may (reasonably) ask?

It's the very first time I've commuted in or home that nothing of note has happened. I cycled in - glorious morning and I wish I had taken some photos - got through the traffic and got to work in good time (55 mins)

That was it.

No funny / stupid / dangerous / silly incidents just a quiet enjoyable ride into work.

How weird is that?

If this keeps up I may start treating it like the journeys when I commute by car.....

I was in a bad mood this morning.

    1. WVM overook on a blind summit. I caught him up, pointed out that his vehicle did not have xray vision, and he apologised.
    2. Another WVM pulled out into a gap slightly shorter than his van between 2 cyclists. I knew he was going to do it and braked. I caught him up and had a word with him. SMIDSY.
    3. A motorcyclist secreted themsevles in an ASL and kept pretending not to be able to hear when I asked that he allow me (and 5 other cyclists) to pull away before he did. He didn't, and in fact deliberately buzzed me. I caught him up and had a word with him along the lines of "What's your ****** problem?" He said, "You were in my way" I said, "You were in a bike box". He said, "What's this I'm riding then?" I said, "Its a MOTOR bike you idiot." Unfortunately, due to his hearing problems, I had to shout this.

I knocked on the side of a 4x4 and politely enquired about which lane he was thinking of finally choosing between those he was slowly meandering between, so that I might safely pass him as he crawled along in the traffic.

I also had to pull out into traffic to get around a WVM that had randomly stopped to wait for someone. I was rather less polite about that one.
    Me:: "F**ks sake!"
WVM (shouty): "This isn't a cycle lane you know!"
Me: "It's not a parking bay either!"
Today is a good day to ride

This is what i mean - for me it was completely uneventful. I was earlier than before so the roads were still quiet, there were only a few schoolkids to dodge on the shared footpath and they ALL got out the way.

Car drivers were courteous and waited / gave me room. Lorry drivers saw me and patiently waited.

People walking their dogs all kept hold of them and stood to one side

I'd decided to use my thermal base layer and tights so no issues there.

I was keeping up a good cadence all the way, it was fresh, cold and sunny with a mild tail wind so I was keeping cool (feet were a little frosty)

Did I just have my perfect commute?

Generally quiet for me, wind behind pushing me along until one set off lights where a motorised lawn mower decided to use the cycle lane so I had to overtake it and give verbal on passing by, but a really nice spring pootle in.

As I was overtaking a stopped bus this morning, cleat wasn't clipped in properly, foot slipped off pedal (standing up effort), banged my anatomy on point of saddle. Ouch.

An uneventful ride for me, except for overtaking one rider (seeing another cyclist being unusual, not the overtaking itself :P ). Gave them a wide berth due to the golf brolly they were carrying; not sure what their plan was if it rained. Ride with the brolly up?

I once had a day like that...when I was a lad. It was grand!

You may laugh but it Japan (where I used to live) it's commonplace to cycle along brolly in hand. I tried it but it is pretty dangerous, even at slow speed....it is drier though!

One ex-colleague of mine was famous for using his electric shaver whilst cycling into work... He also used an umbrella.

I don't think he did both simultaneously.
