I hope it's just a rumour made up by someone on the sauce using Twitter.

"He is suffering from bronchitis," said Directeur Sportif Rudy Pevenage to Cyclingnews. But sadly he has form:
The Phonak team has been confirmed that the reason for Tyler Hamilton's non-start in Stage 13 was due to stomach problems, possibly a virus similar to that which has claimed a number of other riders already. Phonak's director Alvaro Pino explained to TVE during Stage 13 that Hamilton "had an inflamed stomach. He felt ill, so we preferred him to withdraw from the race and have a medical check. It could be a virus."

In the wake of two A-sample tests that showed evidence of homologous blood transfusions, Olympic time trial champion Tyler Hamilton has strongly defended himself.

This site is a real pain.
Had to log in again and it takes forever to navigate.
This message will end up in a "article not found" screen.

Don't try posting this stuff on the new CN forums.
They just erased an entire thread on today's crash.
Nothing libellous in any of the comments.

Yep....nice one Smiler. Leopard, spots and all that. No twin jokes, please.
A once good rider, but uselessly inept doper. Must be out to set a new "get caught"
    world record.
Bet his ex-Postie buddies are pleased.

Time for a sarcy repost from MG.

One rider who nothing would suprise me when it relates to him. His absolutey farcical arguments about why he tested positive and his non repentant attitude are a joke. I have a lot more respect for someone who admits there past wrongs and returns than for this parasite!!!

wouldn't it be best we wait for UCI, WADA to say something than comment on rumour. I could go and start a rumour on a rider now...anyone can do that. It's a case of shoot first, ask questions later

Dave, never said he has doped and tested positive again, merely stated that nothing would suprise me going on his past attitude.

    Cheers

That's almost as good as an admission of guilt.

The news about a very watched cyclist testing positive would be broken by an unrelated employee of a sportswear company? And once the ball got rolling, he'd delete all his Twitter posts before closing the account altogether?

Isn't that setting a new low in news source standards?

Indeed. But many "journalists" seem to copy and paste Armstrong's Twitter feed into their "news" pages.

Like I said above, Hamilton has used spurious claims of illness to duck the media spotlight moments before his doping news hit the fan. His bronchitis and withdrawal from the Vuelta Castilla y Léon probably made Kirk Flinte (the Hincapie Clothing media man) put two and two together to equal six. Not only has his twitter account has gone, all his blogs and links on the Hincapie website have vanished too.

I read K's post this morning, but didn't want to be the first to draw a negative conclusion.
No comment? To a rumour that is from such a shakey source?

I would have thought a scathing denial and repost was the least the could have come up with.
Then we have Mr Twin doing a 'Tour of Spain' vanishing act..

Surely, this means the omens are not good for Hamilton?
