Got a problem with gears on my 04 Stumpy - full suss model. It keeps changing to a lower gear when under load then almost immediately changes back to the gear its supposed to be in. Have noticed that when the rear supension is compressed the rear mech moves. Could this be because the outer sleeve that passes under the BB is slightly too short? Am guessing it is because it all worked fine until I snapped a gear cable and decided to replace the whole lot instead of just the inner.
TIA
John

It could well be, or ghost shifting if the rear end is flexing. Deflate the shcok and move the bike through the travel by hand - observe.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Just deflated the shock and the rear mech moves the equivalent of about two sprockets when I cycle the suspension travel by hand. Is there a way to work out the best length of cable outer or is it a case of just fitting one a little bit longer and trying it.
