Was wondering if anyone has ridden at afan who rides in the peaks and what the level of difficulty compares like.
in the peaks i've ridden Mam tour route, ladybower and the kinder circuit and down jacob's ladder etc.
Does afan compare anything like cannock chase as i,ve done that a lot
thanks alot

I haven't ridden Afan, but not sure you can compare it (or any trail centre) to the Peak... Never encountered anything as rough as parts of the peak.
But if you've done the likes of Rushup, Roych clough, The Beast and Jacobs, Afan should be a breeze....0 -
By ridden do you mean pushed up most of it0

This should point you in the right direction of which trails to ride.
Penhydd, White's Level and the Wall seem to be the 3 most popular.0 -
Very different riding. I've done Mam Tor and Ladybower which are both a lot rougher terrain than the sweet flowing singletrack of the Afan trails (apart from some of the fireroad climbs). You can't really compare them but if you can handle the peaks you'll cope with Afan no worries. I guess Afan is a bit like a much, much better version of Cannock Chase (which in itself is a good ride).
I love both places0 -
I agree with Pitt Poney. The trails at Afan are obviously built to be ridden rather than the 'natural' bridleways in the peaks.
They are definitely worth a try - lots of climbing unless you cheat and get the lift up (by van).
I've been to Afan 4 times but have only ever been able to do one day of riding so be prepared - its often wet!!0
