Slx shifters upgrade

Thinking of upgrading my deore shifters to slx, firstly is there much difference, and do they have a proper split clamp so you don't have to take everything off to slide them on and off?

Not that much difference - XT would be more noticable.

XT are smoother and lighter. Don't think many shifters have split clamps do they? None i've ever owned anyway. My brakes do though.0

Chepest XT shifters I`ve seen are now £75.(Merlin have just put their prices up again,last week)SLX are £40.You`d have to want to save 20g pretty badly to spend the difference.MBR reckoned the SLX were actually better than XT too.You can always spend some of the saving on some better cables.2006 Giant XTC

I'm looking at replacing my gears levers and rear mech to slx for my spare bike, from what I have been reading the levers are the same internals as the XT.0
