I'm taking part in this again this year, having had such an enjoyable and rewarding ride last year.
Capital to Coast Cycle Challenge for Charity, in its 14th year. It is a charity cycle ride which supports four partner charities - Norwood, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, The Down’s Syndrome Association & Southern FM's Help A Local Child as well as a number of associate charities.
I'd be starting at Esher College in Surrey and then working my way southwards towards Hove, coverving 60 glorious miles!
As it is a charity ride, I am hoping to raise some money to help out those charities mentioned above.
The link for my online sponsorship page is in my sig but I'll pop it in here to:
http://www.justgiving.com/markonhisbike
If anyone wants anymore details about the event check here:
http://www.capitaltocoast.org.uk/index. ... t=1&Menu=1
If anyone wants to join me on the ride PM me and we can check the logistics! I set off fairly early from Esher last year, around 7 ish I think, and got away from the bulk of the riders within about 10-15 miles and had pretty much clear roads after that until the rest stop :-)
To lay the gauntlet down somewhat I'm even considering trying to do it without stopping this year (last year I took a rest break at the halfway point), so maybe if I can make my sponsorship target of £200 I'll give that a try to give myself a proper challenge :-)
Lastly I'd just like to say thank you in advance for any donations you can make, big or small, it will all help and be going to worthwhile causes and finally sorry for posting it here in commuting, but as this is where I spend most of my time on the forum and I couldn't see a "charity rides" section under road I thought it best to post here!
Thank you

I'm pretty certain I'll be doing it this year, and riding back to Esher to pick up the car  If you fancy a bit of company on the way down I'll set my alarm clock extra early and get to the start for 7ish. I'm definately up for doing it non-stop this timepain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

I do recall a post you made on SiHughes (I think) thread about the London 2 Brighton ride saying you where riding back to get the car..........It does sound like an appealing challenge but I don't want to die halfway back and as my fair lady isn't coming to collect me this year (the problem with having so many offspring.....) I was thinking of getting a train back from Hove but one from Esher would be easier :-)0 -
My thinking was this
A quick dash down to Hove/Brighton, I reckon getting there for mid to late morning, a moster breakfast on the seafront, and a slow trundle back up to Esher. If we're too knackered we can always get the train part of the way back
Anyone else interested, could it be the venue for the DDD/Greg66/JB showdown?pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

I'd go for some SCR teamkit, even though there's precious few scalps on my route.pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................
