Hi I am thinking of changing my shimano 105 12-26 cassette to Dura ace 7900 11-28 the wheels are Mavic Ksyrium Elite silver.
Will the cassette fit straight on or will i need to make any adjustments
Thanks

The 11-28T 7900 cassette is theoretically incompatible with 7800 (and Ultegra/105) rear derailleurs, according to Shimano. Whether it will work is another question; pre-7900 Shimano RDs are theoretically limited to 27T but SRAM 11-28 cassettes work fine AFAIK (a friend has one.) I am personally also out of Shimano's capacity spec running a 50-34 with a 12-27 cassette on a short cage DA RD and that also works fine.
EDIT: It should fit on the wheel fine, that will not be a problem.0 -
Thanks for that blorg will have a look at the SRAM 11-28. Would hate to buy the shimano and not have it fit.http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad197/pete469920/CIMG0147.jpg

DA Cassette sounds pricey ! Do they not do those teeth in the 105 range ? Or Ultegra even ?0

As far as i know its only the DA 7900 that dose 12-28http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad197/pete469920/CIMG0147.jpg

If the SRAM cassette works it is difficult to imagine how the 28T 7900 cassette would not work. Shimano have traditionally specified on the conservative side, the issue is that the pre-7900 rear derailleurs all have a max tooth spec of 27T so they say they are not compatible. You can get an SRAM 11-28 (OG1070) for a lot less than a DA 7900 one though, might make more sense.0
