Pretty much as the title says. Had both nicked recently, this is the budget for replacement.
Using the road bike daily to commute on, DONT want a hybrid, skiny tyres and drops a must.. Mountain bike is just for messing about on with the family, nothing heavy going, infrequent use.
First looks brings up the Trek 1.5 and the Spesh hardrock. Any comments/suggestions?
Cheers

Road: 2006 Trek 1500
Off: 2009 Carrera Fury
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

Looks like an approx. 50/50 split moneywise. Personally I'd spend more on the road bike as it's something you'll use everyday and less on the off-roader as it's only for messing about on with the family.0

I'd say go maybe 70/30 which adds up nicely with your hardrock, my matey at works got one and uses it for the exact thing you do and it's ideal
He also has a carrera subway which is not ideal, but if you look abou on the bay you might get a bargain, 700 quid should see you good. My kuota with a brand new ultegra sl groupset and fsa pro carbon crankset and fizik arione saddle and other treats was only 790 inc postage, and other than the frame it was all brand new
Sorry to hear of your loss, thieving little %$£"£$%* :evil:winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Either of the above is an absolute steal for a mountain bike with XCR forks! It comes with V-brakes, but the hubs are disc ready.
So that leaves ~£750 for the road bike (unless a grand includes bits like clipless pedals)...
