Following on from my post in Road beginners just wonder what advice anyone can give me regarding the following bikes. I am brand new to road and must admit very green which is why I would prefer to buy new rather than used. I have a vert tight budget but my max is my max i'm afraid I can't afford the Carbon goodies. I have a short list of the following any buying advice would be greatly appreciated
In no particular order:
Claude Butler Criterium - £244
Rayleigh Airlite 100 - £ 220
Viking Roma - $260 Giro D'italia - £ 224.99
Mercurio Alloy £ 200
Dawes Giro 200 £ 240 this one looked particularly good

That Dawes has downtube shifters doesn't it? I would avoid them and personally go for the Raleigh as i guess it's a bit lighter and looks the nicest one that has integrated brake/gears
But then that's just me...................winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg
