He could be off the bike for anything from a week to six weeks if it's the dreaded collarbone.

As for it being deliberate, I suspect him of some bad behaviour in years gone past but don't think he can orchestrate a big crash.

Meanwhile Joaquin Martinez of the Burgos squad wins the stage in a bunch sprint.

This is obviously a deliberate crash by Lance to deliberately break his collarbone so he doesnt need to tackle the Giro..............at least thats how certain people will probably portray it.
The Giro organisers will be really upset about this. Not to mention Cycling.TV and US channel Versus, as I think both had just forked out a fortune for the rights to the Giro.

Given his form dont think he would have featured much anyway but they will still get a great race it usually always is .So what is it these days for a broken collarbone ...4- 6 weeks off the bike ?
could take longer, when you're getting on a bit
    so many cols,so little time!

If its 6 weeks, he's fresh out of options. Giro starts 6 weeks, this weekend....
No Georgia.....no Catalunya....Dunkerque is even earlier.

His only stage race option would be the.....Bayern-Rundfart.
Now, what was it those nice Germans wanted him to do, again?

If you like Flandes, Roubaix or Eroica, you would like GP Canal de Castilla, www.gpcanaldecastilla.com

No way is that deliberate.

I've not seen the crash, but when people talk about deliberate I have scenes of Sylvester Stallone doing it and taking Lance's place so he can help orchestrate the escape running through my head.

Feed is working today, for the ITT. Must have been a Lance boycott, yesterday.

Did Contador catch Irizar or was it the other way around? They seem to be doing a 2-up now...

Are there special rules on TTs in Spain? I'm asking (in irony) as many riders seem to get caught, only to sit directly on the wheel of the rider that has come past them. There's a massive headwind on the return to the finish, so the advantages of this cheating are considerable. Surely it's disqualificacion time?

Yes, I noticed alot of drafting of cars/motorbikes going on too. Blatant.

Competitor numbers here, if anyone interested:

I wonder if Levi isn't going to be a bigger problem for AC this year than Lance at the TdF....

At least the average speeds are a bit more believable. By my calculations Levi is just under 32mph average, some guys are under 29mph.

1 Levi Leipheimer (USA) Astana 33.17
2 Alberto Contador (Spa) Astana 0.18
    3 David Zabriskie (USA) Garmin-Slipstream 0.22
4 Denis Menchov (Spa) Rabobank 0.55

Who wants to start a "tiny little man beats 2 other tiny little men in ITT" thread?

Did Denis open his mouth during the TT?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

    Nice stats there, Kleber.

Maybe there's a rider out there called Luis Leon y Alberto Contador?
