Strange bruise - tendon damage?

Yesterday I noticed a weird bruise on my leg, just below the knee. I don't recall getting hit there or anything and my emergency dismount on Sunday (see the rants thread) was a hit on the other leg. It's a bit sore to walk on but 20m on the bike yesterday didn't seem to bother it.

I've been doing some flooring/skirting work at home - lots of crawling about and repeatedly standing up and down - so I wonder if I've done some damage to the old knees. I'm aware of the problems of internet self diagnosis and "a little knowledge", but I see a few folk on here with experience of tendon/ligament injury so has anyone seen anything like this themselves?

Beware, some pictures of my short fat hairy legs:

I can't get a docs appointment until Monday. Any advice? Stay off the bike?

As you say, it may just be all the kneeling down. Nothing to go see a doctor over, IMO.

P.S. I read that as 20 meters.

Nah I don't remember bashing it with anything, and given the size of the bruise I think I would have remembered it alright!

Now see, I reckon I may have given myself something similar to what you suggest, but at the end of a thigh muscle just above the knee.

Yesterday was my first day with SPDs and we rode 35ish miles (Bristol - Bath and back)... It may be that occasionally I accelerated with a fair bit of pulling-up for extra oomph and rather overdid it on a muscle unused to strain. Possible?
