Just wondering what other peeps resting Heart Rates are like? I was trying to get the HR function on the new Garmin working last night (hadn't enabled it in settings, doh) and found myself wondering.
So mine seems to be 45. That's lying on my sofa though, might try it at my desk this arvo! Not really sure what that means though, have to ask my Personal Trainer of a sister this evening!

45 is very good. I think I measured mine at around 50 when "fully relaxed" but it tends to be about 65-70 just as I set off for a ride.0

Mine seems to get down to 53 which is an improvement since I took up cycling, it used to be in upper 60's. Can't see it ever getting down to 45 in the same way as I can't ever see myself getting properly quick on a bike. I think plateau comes to mind for me now!Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

Funnily mine tends to pop up to 65-70 normally when moving about but then as soon as I start to get ready for a ride it goes up 90. I get that excited about cyclingShort hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

When I used to measure RHR (and when I was fitter) mine was low forties. Twas in the fifties then other day when I was waiting for my 705 to acquire satellites...
Big Mig - supposedly had one of the lowest ever recorded in an athlete!
Just clocked 50 at my desk, but 55-60 seems to be the norm. I remember my sister's boyf said his was down to 38 at one stage last year.

mine is about 47, though around 90 just sitting at my desk. Unfortunately my hrm keeps cutting out and is currently reading 230, so i think the batteries are going...0

It's around the 42 mark atm. Gets down to 38/39 when I'm truly chilled and cold-free.FCN 2-4.

And Mig had lungs that were so big he looked he had a beer gut. I probably have the same thing then
Dunno what my resting HR is but I was at 48 a couple of years ago, and when I'm waiting at the lights outside the office and press the button to start the HR monitor, its around 53. I think the important thing is what it will get up to, and this tails off with age. I rarely see anything above 170 these days..
I might check it this weekend. Or maybe not, my daughter is bringing her boyfriend round. The one with the body art...Bike1

64 right now, but that's with a substantial hangover! It was 54 last time I measured it properly.0

I've seen over 200 doing a steep hill on my singlespeed roadie, god knows why it can get so high though...0

My lowest ever recorded was 39, which strangely was my age when I recorded it. Evidently I hit 201 on the way in today, although I find that hard to believe as I also recorded 63mph. I'll have to download the data tonight and see if the spikes occur at the same place. If not I'll have to completely re-asses where I thought my zones were :shock:pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Shut it all of you, so what if my resting heart rate is 85 :?
I managed 217 this week

James - it means you are very fit and also that if you give blood be careful when you stand up afterwards!
My RHR is around 60 I think, though I haven't measured it lately. Lowest I ever saw it was 56, sitting in Waterstone's after riding to town.....Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome0 -

I really struggle to get mine over 190. My tongue-hanging-out-of-the-mouth-but-can-just-about-hold-it HR is around 173.FCN 2-4.

49 when the doc was checking my BP a week (or was it two) back when I had concussed myself. Doesn't resting HR decrease as you get older?
In my super-fit days, my RHR wasn't much below 65 - but my younger self certainly would kick my a$$ solidly were I to come across him.David

60/80 my heart rate tends to wobble up and down, in my younger days I've hit 210 plus on the mtb climbing up one rock strewn track not the foggiest what it is now, not helped by the fact I hate wearing watches so heart rate straps is a no no0

I was measured at 48 in A&E when I was getting checked out after an off. Thought that I wouldn't be very relaxed at that point but may be endophins have a sedative effect0

That's more to do with low blood pressure. Been there, done that. On a treadmill in a hotel in NYC. Came round with a nasty bump on the back of my head and lots of people looking down at me.
48 right now. Should be a bit lower first thing in the morning. Any sort of structured training gets it low to the low 40s or high 30s.
I once left my HR monitor on all night to see what happens. Answer: for about three hours it sat around 28.
Whilst you can affect RHR with exercise, I strongly suspect your "default" RHR is much more to do with genetics.0 -
Interestingly, i've found my lowest heartrate came when i was reading a "did lance dope?" thread in the roadie section...0
