Sorry to hear about the injury, good to hear you're recovering! Regarding your sore shoulder, in my experience doctors are frequently too conservative in prescribing decent analgesics that actually do something. If you're hurting and ibuprofen isn't doing anything for you, insist on something stronger. Tramadol has worked well for me for pain-relief and, as a bonus, it can have an anti-depressant effect - just what you're need when you're missing the bike0

Ahh TCS just read this.Shame.
In the past month I've nearly had two pedestrians, luckily I had slowed right down as I was navigating a corner. I cant beleive people just dont look properly or think that 2kg of bike frame or a 14 stone rider wont hurt. One of the people I nearly went into didnt look as she was lighting a fag
I'm sure your missus will come around. Everyone has atleast one crash, sadly its human nature, as long as we do everything we can to avoid putting ourselves and others in danger we can limit the damage or avoid it completely.
Hope you get well soon fella, but dont feel too bad about resting up!0 -
TCS,
Condolances mate: Bad scene (the injury, the non riding & her indoors)
I can't blame your missus, you ride enough things happen, people that love you worry when you cycle in the traffic you negotiate. I know you weren't bombing it, not your style. Peds are my biggest worry and your trauma reinforces this thought.
Frustration and impatience will be your enemy I would think. You cannot ride so don't think about it. Loadsa rest.
Hope to catch up soon.......................................rest it!

Did you do this on Lea Bridge Road?
Cheers. Almost LBR - top end of hoe st approaching LBR junction. Just where southbound lane splits into two. Only tend to find LBR a ped risk on way home when passing parades of shops :shock:Pain is only weakness leaving the body0 -

Cheers mate. Ive generally been able to preepmt them but the hiding behind a bus ambush got me in the end  Typically my attempt to avoid a full on collision meant he got off with just being clipped rather than a 14st lump hammer.
I'll learn to be patient but had just built up some good fitness and hill fitness at that Just need to remember to stop eating like a 100 mile + a week commuterPain is only weakness leaving the body0 -

I know what its like through injury to comfort eat. I tend to put on about 2 stone if I dont cycle for a long while. Just starting to get my strength back on the hills now, though cant do the (christopher) biggins of hills around here, LMAO!!
I suppose a decent turbo might come in handy once you've healed up a bit more.0
