i'm looking at chopping about 10mm off each end off my carbon EC70, what's the recommended method?
Junior hacksaw or what about the pipe cutter gizmo that you use by turning around the tube and the wheely blade inside slices through?
LBS job?
Cheers

carbon bars require a very fine blade to cut without tearing.Carbon fibre composites require special care when cutting to prevent irreparable – and possibly very expensive – damage. Fine-toothed hacksaws work reasonably well but even the sharpest ones tear through the substrate in violent fashion and can dislodge fibres if you’re not careful.
obviously not this one as its quite expensive.. but you get the idea...

Though of course the cut is in a completely nonstructural, non-loadbearing area so it doesn't have to be perfect. A dremel cutting wheel works very well, don't breathe the dust!Uncompromising extremist0

Possible risks. They've found a hypothetical link between certain nanotubes and fibrous tumours, a bit like asbestosis. But nothing at all proven.Uncompromising extremist0

I'm increasingly thinking this might be, even though simple, a job for my LBS.
Thanks for the health warning!0
