ultegra sl paint

Does anyone know where I can get paint to touch up a scratch on an ultegra sl crank? I was changing the pedals this morning and I slipped onto the crank and there is now a silver scratch on the dark grey finish. Shimano say they don't do a paint for it themselves - and they recommended going to car shops that deal with cars so perhaps halfords?

Not interested in replies that say 'you will get over it' - this isn't a valid response for the question.

Thanks

Crikey! Well that put everybody in their place.

Grey primer and a suitable silver spray from Halfords or similar, Get a small good quality brush from an art shop, spray the paint into the lid, and apply many thin layers, drying in between. You will need cellulose thinners or gunwash to clean the brush.

sorry about being blunt just last time this happened to my shifters from putting it next to a wall noone seemed very helpful saying that kind of response, which doesn't really resolve the problem.

Thanks for the advise though, just annoying when this kind of thing happens especially when it could have been avoided if I had taken a bit more care

A tin of Humbrol enamel (airfix paint) and a small modelling brush would be best for a touch-up, unless you want to strip the entire coating and re-finish.

Either that, or just don't worry - you will get over it.. ;)

The fact of the matter is I probably won't end up using any of these suggestions and just leave it, but its nice to know that if eventually I do want to do something these options ARE available. Do you know where this kind of paint can be found in London?

    Thanks for the advice.

probably any model/hobby supplies shop, or toy shop would be the best bet. It is pretty cheap, so you could get a few shades and mix the paint to the correct tone...

Thanks a lot - legendary info there. Is this paint likely to be rain resistant?

it's enamel paint, so yes it is waterproof. As for finding a shop - just look for model shops or toy shops in yellow pages...

I'm not saying get over it, but fairly soon the scratch will lose its ' shine ' and become less obvious.
